How to finish the point with a volley?

Players always say ‘I have a good volley, but cannot finish the point with it. How can I hit winning volleys?’. In this video we answer that question during the training with Gerald at Wynwood Padel Club in Miami.

After the warm up (which was also based on volleys), Sandy and Gerald are doing a volley exercise. Sandy plays some balls to Gerald. The first ball is a setup, the second ball is a finish volley. Gerald needs to use a fast flat volley. The first ball needs to force your opponents to give an easy ball and therefore you can finish with a fast flat volley.

The second exercise is based on hitting the ball down and out. You need to keep in mind that you do not need a big smashing action! To get the ball out, you need a compact fast swing downwards. Also the court position is really important. You have got to get close up to the net.

After these exercises, Sandy wants to put it into a point play and see if Gerald can recognize the easy ball. That is the most important part to finish with your volley. The choice selection is so important. You need to anticipate a weak reply, come forward and attack it.
