At the time, a sponsorship with Adidas gave me the opportunity to choose between the Adipower rackets. Before choosing the racket I would use, I spent about a week playing with three models in the 2020 Adipower range and compared their balance and weight.
Adipower 2.0
This model had a teardrop shape, a relatively head-heavy balance and a firm feel. Of the three rackets I tested, it felt the most powerful. My view at the time was that it would suit experienced players or players coming from tennis more than someone completely new to padel.
Adipower Control 2.0
This model had a rounder shape and a more neutral balance. It felt lighter in the hand and offered a good mix of power and control. At the time I felt it could suit a broad range of player levels.
Adipower Soft 2.0
This model also had a teardrop shape, but its softer feel was the main difference for me. Personally, I preferred that softer response and the control it gave me without feeling like I was giving up too much power.
The main lesson still applies when choosing a racket: specifications can guide you, but testing a racket yourself is the best way to understand whether its weight, balance and feel suit your game.
