Technique of the bandeja

  • Start with your racket high.
  • Use a slightly open racket face.
  • Start the swing from above the contact point.
  • Contact the ball around forehead or eye level.
  • Go through the ball with a slightly open racket face to create a little slice.

Movement to the ball

You need to have the right position on the court to hit a good bandeja. When you see the opponent play a high ball, turn your body and prepare early. Use purposeful steps to get behind the ball and create enough space for the contact.

Common errors

Recording yourself can be a useful way to improve your bandeja. Video makes it easier to see whether you are getting back quickly enough or making contact too far behind your body.

Common errors include:

  • Contacting too far behind and losing forward momentum.
  • Watching the result of the previous shot instead of moving back early.
