The final phase of the 2021 World Championships, hosted by the International Padel Federation in Doha, brought together sixteen national teams for a week of international competition.
The event took place at the Khalifa Tennis Stadium and provided an early example of Qatar's growing investment in padel.
The Event
The venue featured multiple courts, spectator seating, live scoring and streaming, creating a strong environment for both players and fans.
The championships had originally been due to take place in 2020 but were postponed because of the COVID-19 pandemic.
International Development
One of the most interesting aspects of the event was seeing countries at very different stages of their padel development competing together.
Great Britain and the United States were among the nations using the event to measure their progress against more established padel countries.
The Results
Spain and Argentina again demonstrated the depth of their international programmes and featured many of the leading professional players of the period.
Spain ultimately won the men's competition after a close final against Argentina, while the event as a whole highlighted how quickly the international game was developing.
