Sandy Farquharson, founder of The Padel School, visited Sweden in November 2021 to see first-hand how quickly the sport was developing there.
During the trip he visited several clubs, met coaches and industry figures and watched high-level competition.
A Rapidly Developing Padel Market
Sweden had embraced padel through significant club development and strong community interest. The visit gave The Padel School an opportunity to see how facilities, coaching and competition were evolving in a fast-growing market.
Meeting Clubs and Coaches
A major theme of the trip was the importance of combining new facilities with strong coaching and player development. The level of both recreational and junior padel was already rising quickly.
Watching the Swedish Padel Open
Sandy finished the visit by watching the Swedish Padel Open at Malmö Arena. At the time, bringing a major professional event to such a large venue demonstrated the scale of enthusiasm surrounding the sport in Sweden.
