How To Hit A Better Topspin Smash

Topspin smash padel

The topspin smash can be played from a lower contact compared to a flat smash. The technique is more difficult as you need to create topspin on the ball. Padel players can hit a topspin smash from the back right of the service box, if they learn the right technique.

There are three main things to consider:

The take back

The take back is similar to a tennis serve, with the racket behind the head. The difference with the topspin smash is that the elbow stays high.

The contact

The contact point is above your head and slightly in front. You need to contact the ball with the ball just above eye level. If you contact the ball too high, it will make it difficult to create topspin.

The follow through

You follow through on the outside of your body, with your racket moving down and across your body.
