How do you win points?
There are three ways to win points:
- Your opponent makes an unforced error
- You force your opponent into an error
- You play a winner
At recreational level, most points are won through unforced errors. This means the most important part is to be consistent. The more balls you get back, the more chances you give your opponents to make a mistake.
Force errors
You can force your opponent to make an error by making the ball difficult for them. You can do this by playing to their feet, playing into the corners or changing the speed and direction of the ball.
Winners
You should only go for a winner when you get an easy ball. Do not force the winner on a difficult ball. You want to be patient and wait for the right opportunity.
