Case Study

TPS Academy Maidenhead

Padel Maidenhead built a coaching setup strong enough to scale across multiple venues

Padel Maidenhead came to The Padel School wanting a coaching operation that could differentiate them in a crowded UK market and hold its standards as the business expanded. Since launching the Academy, the club has recorded its highest ever coaching revenue, its highest ever number of group classes, its largest increase in players entering the coaching programme, and has launched a junior programme from scratch to record participation.

About

Padel Maidenhead

Padel Maidenhead is a fast-growing club in Berkshire, operating in one of the most competitive padel markets in the UK. The club was expanding quickly and had ambitions well beyond a single site. It needed a coaching setup that would give it a genuine advantage over nearby venues and, more importantly, one that would not fall apart when replicated across new locations.

What needed to change?

The club needed a coaching team and setup built from the ground up

Rather than adjusting an existing operation, Maidenhead was looking to establish something new that would set them apart in the UK market. Getting that foundation right mattered more than getting it quickly, because everything the club planned to build afterwards would sit on top of it.

Growth was outpacing the coaching provision

The club was expanding fast and needed structured programmes across the whole membership, from first-time players through to competitive ones. Without them, growing participation would have meant more players on court with nowhere to progress to. There was also no junior offer at all, which left a whole segment of the local market untouched.

Standards had to survive expansion

With plans to scale to further venues, the club knew that coaching quality is the first thing to slip when a business grows. They wanted a quality assurance system in place before expansion, not after standards had already drifted.

How TPS responded‍

Coach education across every player level

We upskilled the coaching team to deliver our coaching programmes to beginner, intermediate, advanced and junior players. Covering the full range was deliberate. A club planning to scale needs coaches who can take a player from their first session through to competitive standard, otherwise players hit a ceiling and leave.

A defined methodology as the quality assurance mechanism

The methodology is what makes coaching quality transferable between coaches and between sites. It gives Maidenhead a documented standard to hire against, train against and hold new venues to, which is what makes multi-site expansion realistic rather than risky.

Structured adult programmes across the club

Session plans and teaching resources gave the club the delivery infrastructure to support rapid membership growth without the coaching team having to build content alongside a full teaching schedule.

A junior programme built from nothing

Maidenhead had no junior offer before the partnership. We designed the programme and trained the team to deliver it, giving the club a pathway for young players and access to a market segment many UK venues are still developing.

Academy branding as a market differentiator

TPS Academy status is visible at the venue and signals to players in a competitive local market that the coaching is built on a recognised methodology rather than assembled ad hoc.

Results in more detail

Highest ever revenue generated from the coaching programme

Coaching revenue has outperformed every previous period since the club opened, alongside record court utilisation. In a competitive local market, that shows the coaching offer is bringing players in rather than simply serving the ones who were already there.

Highest ever number of group classes delivered

Group coaching is the entry point into structured improvement for most players and a major driver of court occupancy at times that might otherwise sit empty.

Largest ever increase in players within the coaching programme

More players are now on a coaching pathway rather than only playing socially. Players in a programme book more court time, stay with the club longer and have a clearer route to progress.

First junior programme launched, with record junior participation

The club now has a pathway for young players, bringing families into the venue and creating a longer-term player pipeline.

2 million+ views of social media content created at the Academy

The content has put the venue in front of players well beyond its own catchment.

Padel Maidenhead is now extending the Academy model to further venues in 2026, making the standard built at one site the standard for the group.
